Job descriptionThe Director for Research & Development is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and guiding the organization's research and development activities. This position requires a visionary and strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proven track record of successful innovation. The Director of R&D will collaborate with cross functional teams to drive the development of new products, technologies and solutions, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
ResponsibilitiesResults-Oriented Approach: Drive a results-oriented approach to R&D, setting challenging goals and empowering team members to take ownership of their work and deliver impactful results. Take ownership of the planning, execution, and completion of R&D projects within established timelines and budgets. Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring cost-efficient and optimal resource allocation for maximum productivity and innovation. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of R&D initiatives.
Customer Focus: Instill a customer-centric mindset within the R&D team, ensuring that product development efforts are driven by a deep understanding of customer needs and preferences.
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: Lead efforts to attract and recruit new local talents to the R&D team, collaborating with HR and hiring managers to identify talent needs, develop recruitment strategies, and participate in candidate evaluation and selection processes.
Technical Excellence: Provide strategic direction and technical oversight to our R&D team, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices in software engineering. Demonstrate deep expertise and proficiency in software engineering principles, methodologies, and technologies. Forge strong partnerships with senior software architects based on mutual respect, trust, and collaboration, leveraging their expertise and insights to drive innovation and achieve shared goals. Experience in development of SaaS solutions in Microsoft Azure is meritorious.
Inspiring Leadership: Inspire and motivate the staff through your passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence, fostering a sense of purpose and pride in their work. Lead the R&D team with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style, empowering team members to contribute their ideas and expertise while fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork.
Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to employees, empowering them to grow and excel in their roles while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Your skills and attributes- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proficiency in business English.
- Proven experience in leading successful R&D teams and delivering innovative products.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to technology and market trends.
- 6 years of experience in a senior leadership role within a research and development environment.
