Job Summary:
The HAUV Supervisor is responsible for leading an offshore shift maintaining, preparing and deploying/recovering Hovering Autonomous Under Water Vehicles (HAUVs) and all associated system equipment owned and operated by the company for either the handling of Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN), inspection services, or other HAUV operations required by the company.
The HAUV Supervisor will take the lead during maintenance and fault rectification activities whilst training the other members of the team to ensure they are able to operate company equipment safely and efficiently to meet project deliverables.
The ideal candidate for the position of HAUV Supervisor will have a firm understanding of electrical / electronic principles, network protocols, computer systems and survey sensors and methodology. Although specific HAUV system training will be given, proven experience supervising AUV / ROV teams during offshore operations will be required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise the maintenance, fault finding, rectification and readiness of up to 4 HAUVs installed on the vessel.
- Lead, mentor and motivate the shift of HAUV Technicians, LARS operators and Deck operators.
- Operate as the senior pilot on shift responsible for the supervision of manual flights ensuring the vehicle operates within the company and manufacturer limitations.
- Take immediate action during emergency situations ensuring the safest possible outcome following company and project guidelines.
- Report to the HAUV Superintendent on the status of team, equipment and maintenance
- Document maintenance work and equipment fault reports.
- Identify and propose system improvements to help improve productivity and EHSQ standards
- When required, be assigned to a shore base project team for project equipment preparation and readiness.
- Review and critique Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including Emergency Procedures.
- Participate in HAZIDs, HAZOPS and generate TRAs when required.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate Mechanical and Electrical system risks and document
- Work to ensure the highest level of availability of the HAUV systems during a project
- Participate and when required lead, in the planning and the mobilization and demobilization of equipment onto offshore vessels.
- Deputize for the HAUV Superintendent when required.
Requirements
- Offshore experience with UUV, HAUV, AUV or other Electrical ROV/Submersible at a Supervisor or equivalent level.
- Experience and an understanding of survey sensors would be highly beneficial, including knowledge of INS, USBL, GNSS, CTD, Sonars.
- Associates, Bachelor’s or Higher in Electrical, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics or Electrical Systems Engineering
- Competent in reading and utilizing electrical and mechanical schematics for integrations and fault finding.
- Experienced with Fiberoptics, Low (up to 690V) and High voltage (up to 3kV) systems
- Strong organizational skills to supervise a team and system equipment within an extremely fast-paced offshore environment.
- Knowledge of the relevant physics for offshore operations, including Submersible vehicle hydrodynamics, buoyancy calculations, splash zone forces and corrosion control
- Competent with Network protocols and Computer systems.
- High appreciation of the EHSQ aspects during Project planning and Offshore operations.
- English is mandatory, verbal and written (Excellent Level)
