Purpose of Role:

The Process Control Engineer provides the required expertise in process control and industrial automation to understand, analyse and implement optimisation applications within the Minerals processing environment to improve overall efficiency.

Working in collaboration with data scientists, process engineers, metallurgists and control specialists globally, this position is part of the process optimisation team supporting the development of end-to-end applications. This includes working with the customer to shape and deliver solutions during testing, validation and QA process, and collecting customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.

As part of an end-to-end process, this role is intended to work in partnership with cloud applications and edge/cloud architecture team for implementation workstreams. Also will be interacting with Product Strategy, local offices engineering staff and Weir product line managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility for control strategies implementation and testing according to applications roadmap.  Contribute to the testing and QA frameworks implementation including dynamic simulation. Maintain strong case documentation and follow-up to ensure that technical recommendations effectively resolve customer issues. Develop commissioning procedures for the developed applications working alongside operations team targeting customer sign off.  Collaborate on the definition of cloud and edge interfacing systems with existing customer architecture for data interaction. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering preferably in Electrical, Electronics or Control Systems Engineering. Experience in automation and process control applied to mining and metals sectors including PLC/DCS programming/configuration or commissioning.  Experience working on commissioning or maintenance of advanced process control solutions for mining sites in DCS or APC systems is considered a plus. Understanding digital technologies and their applications to smart products and factories is preferred. The list includes but is not limited to intelligent control, AI, ML/DL, cognitive solutions, digital twins, etc.
