We are looking for a Scientist to work in our Affinity Ligand Process Development team in R&D Resins and Technologies. The team is responsible for the development of manufacturing processes for new protein-based affinity ligands used for the production of affinity chromatography resins. The primary focus of this position is to work with the expression of recombinant proteins.

This position is part of the Resin and ligand design department located in Uppsala, Sweden and will be an on-site position. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you will do:

• Plan, perform and document protein expression experiments in different formats, from small-scale micro titer plates, shake flasks to fermentation in bioreactors. Participate in the development and optimization of platform processes, e.g. expression vectors and strains; and fermentation.

• Provide technical expertise within the areas of bacterial fermentation and process development of recombinant proteins and solve technical problems, supporting both R&D projects and manufacturing of protein ligands.

• Act as a mentor/local expert and support peers within the areas of bacterial fermentation and process development.

• Act as activity leader, design responsible in projects introducing new products and field expert reviewer.

• Present scientific and technical results internally and externally, oral and written communication in Swedish and English.

Who you are:

• PhD in Microbiology/Biochemistry or related Life Science field and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience from industrial development/ R&D in the bioprocess area.

• Experience in microbial fermentation in different formats, including bioreactor cultivation

• Experience in fermentation and process development for production of recombinant proteins

• A quality oriented, accurate and structured way of working

• English and Swedish as working languages

• Result-oriented, flexible, and creative with a strong collaborative attitude

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience of large-scale fermentation processes (manufacturing) is also advantageous
